Knitted Kalevala III by Jenna Kostet

  • Pre-Order Now for 5th Nov Release Date! (Please note that all items ordered with this book will be shipped together on 3rd Nov.)

Knitted Kalevala III is the final book in the trilogy and a fantastic end to the knitwear designer Jenna Kostet’s journey into the world of Kalevala. Her stunning designs have been inspired by different poems in Kalevala and combined with mythology and traditional symbolism.

The 18 patterns in this book comprise classic yoke sweaters as well as modern colourwork knits and simpler projects that are suitable for knitters less familiar with colourwork techniques.

Kalevala is considered a national epic in Finland and Jenna Kostet started knitting through its poems during the pandemic. Her first Knitted Kalevala book was published in 2022 and the second instalment in 2024. Over the course of six years, Jenna has turned the 50 poems compiled from Finnish and Karelian verses into three knitting books that provide a new way to immerse yourself in these traditions.

Jenna Kostet is a writer and a knitwear designer known for enchanting patterns, such as the Suolaulu Sweater which has been made by thousands of knitters around the world. She has studied ethnology and folkloristics and has published numerous historical novels and children’s books in Finland. In her knitwear designs, Jenna places importance on the stories, the continuation of traditions and the joy of creativity. @ihtiriekkoknits / jennakostet.com
