Ériu Elements is something rare and precious: fully traceable Irish wool with real provenance.
Every skein comes from Ériu’s Farm to Yarn network — a collective of small, family-run farms across Ireland, where each fleece is hand-sourced, properly valued, and spun locally. It’s part of a much bigger mission to restore the Irish wool industry and give meaning (and value) back to fibre that was once written off entirely.

AIR – GAOITHE. (Air, Sylph, The Shee, Wisp)
The Air Palette is inspired by the breathtaking view from the summit of Knocknarea Hill in County Sligo—also known as Maeve’s Cairn, the legendary resting place of Ireland’s revered Celtic Sovereignty Goddess, Queen Maeve.
Celebrated for her intelligence, bravery, beauty, and deep connection to the land and the fairy realms, Queen Maeve is a figure of enduring strength and mysticism.
In Irish tradition, Gaoithe: the Air, or wind, is closely tied to the elemental fairy folk, often called The Good People or The Sidhe (pronounced Shee). It’s said that when a Wisp of straw lifts into the breeze, the fairies are near.
Air elementals, known as Sylphs, paint the skies with delicate artistry, sculpting clouds as they dance through the heavens. On a clear day from Knocknarea’s peak, the Sylphs can be clearly seen at play.
Every name and hue in this palette draws from that ethereal inspiration—a homage to myth, nature, and the unseen magic of the air.
WATER – UISCE. (Atlantis, Selkie, Kingfisher, Manann)
The inspiration behind our Water Palette is drawn from the wild, untamed beauty of Ireland’s Atlantic West Coast—where teals, greens, and blues merge with the powerful, white-crested waves.
It is here that the ancient Irish sea god, Manannán mac Lir—Son of the Sea, or Manann for short—is said to dwell, honoured for his guardianship and mystical presence.
Our teal shade, Selkie, is named after the legendary shapeshifters of the sea—creatures who move between seal and human form, dancing along the shore before vanishing into the waves.
We’ve also included Atlantis, a luminous aqua turquoise, inspired by the mythic belief that Ireland holds an ancient link to the lost civilisation of Atlantis—an empire in harmony with water, knowledge, and the tides of time.
Finally, our deep petrol blue, Kingfisher, pays homage to one of Ireland’s most elusive and striking birds, cloaked in rich blue hues and found along quiet riverbanks and shimmering streams.
EARTH – TALAMH (Elven, Dryad, Fae, The Otherworld)
The Earth Palette draws its inspiration from the rolling hills that cradle our Ériu farm—land steeped in ancient presence, where stone circles, fairy rings, sacred trees, and raths quietly endure. This landscape hums with folklore and reverence for the ethereal beings that we believe tend this space.
The lush, grounding beauty of deep forest greens and mossy banks is reflected in our shades Dryad and Elven. A Dryad is a Tree Spirit, and as you walk through our neighbouring ancient, native forests, it is palpable to feel their presence.
Elven, a softer green, evokes mist drifting through the forest—subtle and elusive—where fairies and elves are said to wrap themselves in nature’s veil.
The wild heather that blankets the Wicklow Hills inspired the hues Fae and The Otherworld.
Fae is a timeless word for the fairy folk, while The Otherworld refers to the realm they inhabit—a magical dimension that overlaps with ours, especially when one is fully immersed in the natural wonder that surrounds us.
FIRE – TINE (Brigid’s Flame, Ceremony, Ashes, Crow)
The Fire Palette is inspired by the ancient Irish fire festivals, sacred traditions tied to the Celtic Wheel and seasonal ceremonies. These events marked pivotal moments in the agricultural year—such as Imbolc, Bealtine, Lughnasadh, and Samhain—with great bonfires, community gatherings, and rituals that honoured both the land and the spirits interwoven with it.
Brigid’s Flame, a vivid, fiery orange, pays homage to the revered figure of Brigid—both Saint and Goddess—keeper of the hearth, poetry, and fertility.
Ceremony, a rich ochre, echoes the golden glow of firelight during ritual, embodying its warmth and symbolism, also a hugely flattering colour.
Ashes, a soft yet powerful charcoal grey, reflects the quiet remnants of ceremony—the sacred residue of transformation.
Our deepest tone, Crow, is a near-black infused with hints of indigo, reminiscent of the subtle flash of a crow’s wing. The crow, in Irish lore, is closely linked to The Morrígan, the powerful Goddess and guide.
Together, these shades speak to fire as both a physical and mystical force—a spark of life, a tool of ceremony, and a bridge between worlds.
