ITO Kin Gin is a glamourous fine metallic thread, made from viscose and polyester, designed to be held alongside another yarn rather than used on its own.
Instead of chunky glitter or obvious sparkle, Kin Gin has a smooth, continuous sheen - more of a clean metallic thread running through your fabric than anything fuzzy or flashy.
The construction gives it a slightly structured feel, but it’s still flexible enough to knit comfortably when carried with another yarn. We LOVE it with ITO Sensai.
Kin Gin will sit lightly on the surface, catching the light as you move, rather than disappearing completely into the yarn you’re holding it with.
So you get definition and a bit of edge without tipping into novelty territory.
The colour palette sticks to classic metallics: gold, silver and darker tones — all designed to work seamlessly with the rest of the ITO range. (W and B in the colour names refer to the base thread colour: W for White and B for Black.)
It’s a very easy way to ad some pizzaz to your creations, and there's no itch or scratchiness.
Kin Gin vs Gin?
Kin Gin is the more expressive option.
Where Gin gives a quiet metallic glow, Kin Gin delivers a more visible shimmer that sits on the surface of the fabric.
