  • As you might know, we are not fans of plastic in yarns. But we do get asked time and again for ethical sock yarns, which will go the distance.

ISAGER SOCK YARN is spun from 40% Easy Wash Alpaca, 40% Easy Wash Merino Wool and 20% Recycled Nylon. This provides great durability, and a soft result and can also be machine washed. Sock knitters rejoice!

The typically "Isager" palette includes 20 lovely colours which look great on their own, or combined.

EASY WASH is the environmental friendly alternative to the standard chlorine "super-wash" process used to make the fibres machine washable without shrinking.

The Easy-Wash process uses eco-friendly oxidants, sourced in Germany and certified under REACH, Oeko-tex and ZDH (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemical) standards. Meaning that this treatment does not involve the discharge of hazardous chemicals (which is definitely not the case with most machine washable yarns in today’s market).

20% of the yarn contents is recycled nylon which applies strength to the yarn. This is the first time that ISAGER have used a synthetic material in a yarn, but they found it was the only way to produce a yarn that offered softness and comfort, and at the same time was strong enough to take the bashing of a sock.

The recycled nylon is an industrial waste product that normally would be disposed of in landfills.

    Spun and dyed in Peru.

  • ISAGER YARNS

Renowned for classic yarns made from natural fibres, well suited for knitting, crochet, weaving and embroidery.

All the wool qualities are ideal for felting and for dyeing with plant dyes.

It is important to us that our yarns are produced with the greatest amount of care taken to both animals and humans.

    THE COLOUR RANGE

Carefully created so the colours work well together both within and across the qualities. We rarely change the colours, as the range primarily consists of BASIC COLOURS, amongst which contemporary colours can always be found.

The colours and qualities of our finer yarns can be mixed to create unique pieces.

As a rule, single ply, densely spun yarns should not be used individually for working in the round, as they may pull the finished work. When worked together with other qualities this problem is avoided.
