The Klee Collection is a book with 6 unique hand-knitting patterns inspired by the work of Modernist master Paul Klee in which slow fashion meets high art. The collection includes two pullovers, one cardigan, two shawls and one pair of fingerless mitts.

“The Klee Collection is a gathering of knitting patterns close to my heart. Although I trained as an art historian, I rarely get a chance to see even a fraction of the amazing art on offer in London,” explains designer Renée.“A few years ago the Tate Modern held an exhibition of Paul Klee’s work and it was like visiting an old friend. The inspiration to design my first collection came quickly and I have named each of the designs after a painting by Klee.”

Each design features unique geometric lace knitting inspired by the strange and wonderful shapes that run like a language through Klee’s work, providing interest and detail on extremely wearable garments. Selfish knitting at its best, this collection is intended to be worn and loved for years to come.

The book comes with a code for a digital download as well.

  • About Renée, aka EastLondonKnit:

After studying fashion design with knitwear at Central Saint Martins college, I began to hoard yarn and a range of knitting machines. I love textiles and technical challenge of knitting. There is real joy in producing something both useful and beautiful.

I am constantly creating new patterns and combinations of texture and colour and spend as much time as I can hand knitting. I love to see new knitters taking to the needles and teach a range of knitting classes.

I have a podcast and have taught a Craftsy.com class on machine knitting.

'Renée Callahan is a knitwear designer and knitting teacher who loves slow fashion and believes in making and sharing beautiful, useful things.'
