  • Brand new by Artyarns! These hand-painted yarns feature short bursts of multi-coloured gloriousness nestled in with a tonal background main colour.

So, it's definitely not variegated, but nor is it speckled or self-striping. :)

This incredible yarn consists of two threads of the highest quality Silk-Mohair blend we've ever found, plied together and then hand-painted by artisans.

We would classify the yarn as fingering weight although it has a whopping 566m per 90g, and our new Make Mine A Double Sweater is knit on 6mm needles! Which just goes to show its versatility. It would be great on such a huge range of needles (like 2.75mm - 8mm!).

Gorgeous, soft halo from the top-tier mohair, and fabulous lustre and shine from the high silk content (40% as compared to 28-30% in other brands of silk-mohair). This stuff isn't like your run-of-the-mill silk-mo.

Absolutely no scratchiness, no plastic/acrylic. This yarn has been hand-painted by artisans, not machine dyed, so each skein has depth and interest.

  • Ingredients:
60% Fine Kid Mohair, 40% Mulberry Silk

    Length:
    566m (620yd)

    Weight:
    90g

    Gauge:
Fingering/DK, although could be used on many needle sizes!

    Care:
We recommend hand washing non-superwash, hand-dyed yarns.

Although Artyarns are very consistent with their colourways, all hand-painted skeins are unique. If your project uses more than one skein, you may want to alternate / stripe the skeins.

Block / wash in lukewarm water with some wool wash, and lay flat to dry. Artyarns set their dyes with steaming and thoroughly rinsing but differing water temperatures and chemicals can cause some dye to bleed in any yarn.

If you're pairing light and dark colours, we recommend washing your swatch first to test for colour-fastness.
