The Pants KAL for Just One More Row

  • Knit a pair of Pants, or Shorts, or Knickers, or Leg Warmers!! Join the Pants KAL and support Milli's Solo Row across the Atlantic!

This one's a bit different to "normal" Tribe KALs, but just as welcoming and fun and endlessly customisable! It's being run by 3 fab Tribe customers: Debi, Elizabeth and Lucy because Milli will be busy rowing 3,000 miles of Atlantic Ocean the whole time: World's Toughest Row!

Can we complete a pair of trousers before she lands in Antigua?

    What's included?
    • £70 yarn coupon redeemable against any yarn in the shop (6 month expiry date)
    • £20 Charitable Donation to CHAS (Children's Hospices Across Scotland) and The 2 Minute Foundation. Let's see how much we can raise!
The Go Street Pants pattern in English! (that's where the remaining £5 goes)
    Weekly Zoom sessions
    Private Ravelry Group

We're knitting the Go Street Pants - a straightforward trouser pattern with SO MANY options for customisation.

Think stripes, colours, lettering, lace, stranded motifs, frills, flares, stirrups - where will you go with it?

There's no formal "teaching" during this Knit-Along, the pattern is straightforward, but we will of course be on hand to help with any queries. If past Tribe KALs are anything to go by, you can expect lots of camaraderie, support, inspo and chatter!

No idea where to start? Don't worry - we'll chat through options on the first Zoom:
    Yarn options and colours
Customising your trousers/shorts/knickers/legwarmers/ass-less chaps (hey, anything goes!)

On the optional weekly zooms we'll feast on each other's progress and ideas, catch up on Milli's progress across the ocean. (Zoom recordings will be emailed in case you can't make it, or want to view later).

Tribe KALs are all about community, yarny friendships, support and laughs. We keep doing them because they are so much fun! Try to keep your Friday evenings free during the KAL so you can get the most out of the KAL, but don't worry if you can't. This KAL is a social thing 😁, where we encourage and inspire others with our creations.

You will also need the following:
Circular needles (size will depend on which yarn you choose and gauge).
     Tapestry needle
Stitch holders (we recommend our Silicone stitch holders)
    Stitch markers

  • Recommended Yarns
Perfect gauge for the written (unmodified) pattern is 16 sts, 24 rows to 10cm.  But you can fairly easily modify the pattern to your gauge..

These yarns should get you very close without mods:

Isager Jensen - toothy, rustic, hardwearing, low price, lots of colours. We recommend adding a thread of silk mo to make it softer but also for gauge.

Woolstok Worsted - soft but not too soft, great colour palette, perfect gauge

Woolia - super soft and bouncy. Youthful, fun palette.

Lore - hardwearing and rustic, but not prickly. Grown up colours, nicely heathered.

Mota - round and felty. Great colours, and wears well. Great price too.

Kumula - come on! You know you want kitten cashmere pants!!! For the diva in you.

Eco Cashmere Vintage - cashmere, but not for the flashy. Only you and your pins will know. Yum!!!!

Sayama - the perfect DK? This could be it. Soft, won't break the bank. Should hold up well, unless you're riding a camel across the Gobi or something..

Uist Wool DK - tough. I reckon you could ride that camel. Love this stuff - it's proper wool.

Alpine Polwarth Possum - ski hill ready. This stuff will keep you toasty as!

Lots of other options too, like Snefnug, Isager Soft, Giacomo... Have fun!!

    Sizes

    Size: XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL)
    Waist: 66 (76) 86 (96) 106 (116) cm / 26 (30) 34 (37¾) 41¾ (45½) inches

Lucy's sample is a size M, knit on 5mm needles, using Isager Jensen and Isager Silk Mohair held together. Gauge 16 st and 20 rows to 10cm.

In practice, this is pretty modifiable for smaller and larger sizes.
