  • At last - beautiful, strong nylon-free sock yarn! Naturally dyed by Emma of Town Dyer right here in West London!

This gorgeous, lustrous yarn is perfect for any next-to-the-skin garment, since it's soft and smooth. The silk and ramie make it exceptionally strong - so perfect for hardworking, plastic-free socks too!

Ramie is made from the stalks of Chinese Nettle. Extremely absorbent, (much more than cotton) ramie fabric breathes well and is one of the strongest natural fibres - even when wet. It does not shrink and it is resistant to bacteria and mildew, which means it does not rot easily.

The silk adds even more strength and lustre, and the merino makes sure the fabric is warm, snuggly and elastic. This yarn is incredibly pleasurable to work with!

Emma's work is especially coveted here since it's dyed mostly with the beautiful, native plant life foraged in West London! Every bundle is unique and a work of art, and is understandably limited in supply.

The dock has been collected from the riversides and fields in Richmond and Hounslow Walnuts have been collected locally, from the ground under our abundant walnut trees. Avocado pits are used from personal food waste.

We say get them while you can!

  • Town Dyer is the brainchild of London's own Emma Kylmala.

Emma is a knitter with a natural-dyeing obsession. She grew up in Finland and has been a forager ever since she can remember!

She passionately dyes natural fibres from her kitchen in West London using mostly self-foraged plant materials collected locally by herself and her young daughter.

Who doesn't love a cheeky little freebie now and again?
