    INTRODUCTION TO INVISIBLE KNIT REPAIR

    Whether you’re looking to mend your own knits or take the first steps towards working as a repairer, this workshop will teach you the main techniques for repairing knitted fabrics invisibly.

    We will look at:

    • the structure of knitted fabrics
    • fixing ladders and pulled threads
    • different methods of duplicate stitch for small and large holes
    • how to source the perfect yarn for repair
    • assessing a garment for repair
    • some pro tips & tricks

    Class materials:

    You will receive a kit containing all the tools you need, as well as multiple swatches to practice on - no need to bring anything with you!

    Alexandra Brinck:

    Alexandra is a black-belt master in the world of mending - check out her incredible instagram page @alexandrabrinck!

    A professional mender, and a knitwear designer, Alexandra also teaches pro-menders and is a senior mender with theseam.uk.

    She is incredibly generous with her knowledge, and super passionate about mending and preserving your precious knitwear.

  • Class Duration:
    11am-4:30pm (with a lunch break). Please arrive promptly.

    Skill Level & Prep Work:
    This workshops is most suitable for those with some experience of knitting and knitted fabrics (but you don’t have to be a knitting wiz!)

    Class Materials:
    You will receive a kit containing all the tools you need, as well as multiple swatches to practice on - no need to bring anything with you!

    You may wish to bring some water to drink, and a pen for notes. Lunch is not provided, so please bring some refreshments with you, or visit one of the many, many fantastic eateries in Richmond!

    Other:
    We are sorry but we cannot offer refunds on classes if you are unable to attend for whatever reason, unless we are able to refill your spot.

    This workshop will take place on the 1st Floor with access via a spiral staircase.

    I’m a London-based textile designer and repair specialist, with a life-long love for textile crafts (inherited from my mother Ann and grandmother Greta).


    Working with textile repairs allows me to draw on skills gained from working in various areas of textiles over the years, and I’m passionate about raising the profile of clothing repair as both a technically skilled craft and a more sustainable way of living.
