  • Nene is Riverknits new non-superwash 100% BFL base which has been exclusively spun for Riverknits in Yorkshire.

Beautifully hand dyed by Becci and Marcus on their narrowboat studio on UK waterways.  These incredible colourways are painstakingly dyed in layers in order to achieve these complex and subtle results.

This is a smooth, worsted-spun and plied yarn with a gorgeous lustre and great definition! The Bluefaced Leicester breed produces wool that is both strong and next-to-skin soft, making it ideal for a wide range of projects.

It will work fantastically in shawls, socks, jumpers, and other accessories. It wears well over time and pills very little. The stitch definition is excellent, making it suitable for beautiful stocking stitch, textured knit-purl patterns, thick and squishy brioche, and well-defined cables.

And the colours!! Just can't explain how beautiful they are!

Note: Skeins are not perfectly identical, if using more than one, consider alternating every few rows. Hand wash recommended.

  • About RiverKnits

Becci and Markus, both engineers by trade, hand dye British wool yarns while travelling around the UK waterways on their narrowboat home and studio.

RiverKnits wool yarn is all sustainably sourced from within the UK, you won’t find any Merino here! The majority of the range today is Bluefaced Leicester; a lustrous English longwool. It makes a soft and strong yarn, and takes dye beautifully.

The 100% BFL which is perfect for no-nylon socks, and everything else. RiverKnits' blends with silk and cashmere make drool-worthy shawls and other luxury garments.

RiverKnits yarn is dyed in layers, which takes a long time, but it is so worth it for the complex and subtle appearance!
