In this super fun KAL-Course (KAL= Knit-a-long) you will be expertly guided through knitting your very own "A Girl's Best Friend" shawl!

This gorgeous shawl, designed by Isabell Kraemer, makes a perfect introduction to the triangular shawl technique. Worked flat from the top down, it is a fun, varied and essentially wearable knit!

Optional pompoms/tassels or even a fringe on the edging are a really special touch!

During the 4 workshop style lessons you will learn the following techniques. There will be set (fun!) homework between classes.

Knit a shawl using the triangular increases method
Circular needles
Increases
Broken seed stitch
Garter stitch stripes
Knitting bobbles
Teardrop stitch
Making pompoms/tassles
Blocking & Finishing

Our stunning example of the shawl (available to view in store) has been created using beautiful Lanivendole yarns, which make it even more spectacular.

In fact, this yarn for this shawl is proving so popular, it's difficult to keep in stock. So if you decide to use Lanivendole Yarns, please pre-order your colour selection by 10th JANUARY. We will give you a 10% discount and will pre-cake your yarn for you so you're ready to roll on Class Day ( 2 skeins ofA Chic Blend, 2 skeins ofA Shiny Blend, and 2 skeins ofA Stormy Blend orA Heavenly Blend - your choice!).

Class Duration:
4 x 2 hour classes, 11am - 1pm. If applicable, Please arrive at least 30 mins before the first class to choose your yarn (so we can wind it for you). Or better still, on a pre-class day, so you're not rushed.

Prior Experience:
Basic knit skills - you should be able to cast on, knit and purl.

Class Materials:
The pattern is included.

You will require the following yarn, which you are welcome to purchase in store with a 10% discount:

Main colour: approx 70g Light Fingering weight yarn
Contrast colour 1: 60g of Fingering/Light Fingering weight yarn
Contrast colour 2: 95g of Light Fingering weight yarn

Needles:
3.5mm (US 4) circular needle, 100cm (40”) long or size needed to get gauge:

Gauge
20 sts x 34 rows = 4 x 4” (10 x 10 cm) in Stockinette stitch on US 4 (3.5 mm) needles after blocking.
19 sts x 32 rows = 4 x 4” (10 x 10 cm) in Teardrop pattern on US 4 (3.5 mm) needles after blocking.
Gauge is not crucial for this project, but will affect yardage and final size when different.

My name is Nuria and I'm from Barcelona. Almost 13 years ago I married my lovely Aussie boy and we've managed to have 2 gorgeous kids together, My little Aussie man and 12 years old Aiden and my gorgeous and very determined little english lady Ari who is 8!

Six years ago we embraced a big adventure and moved to London from Barcelona. And here we are, three years later, happy and loving this little adorable place that is Kew (Richmond) where we live.

So, now that I can definitely say that my family is all settled, it's time for me to start my own big adventure and share my little creation:Yaya Knits & Bobs

Yayaknits is about sharing and teaching people to knit and crochet, along with the opportunity to purchase hand-made knit and crochet products that I can design for you or we can design together.

The inspiration for Yayaknits comes mainly from my grandmother Carmen who we would call Yaya. She was an amazing, brave and inspiring woman who taught me as a little girl all the knitting and crochet skills she was passionate about. I would like to share this passion to all that want to learn.
