  • Friday 17th April 2020: 2 - 5pm

NOTE THAT BY "PURCHASING" THIS ITEM YOU ARE ENTERING INTO A BALLOT TO "WIN" THE CHANCE TO BUY A TICKET FOR THE EVENT!

We suspect that demand for these tickets will outstrip supply, so we have come up with an ingenious Ballot System to make things as fair as possible.

Ballot Draw takes place on 31st DEC 2019, so you have plenty of time to enter.

Please click here for the details, and GOOD LUCK!

This class is all about showing off beautiful yarns with simple techniques combined in clever ways.

Techniques like stripes, short rows, and holding yarns together will be explored and combined to create bold architectural fabrics.

Stephen will show off a colourful array of Westknits designs while encouraging you to look at yarn in a new way. If you have a colourful Westknits project you would like to begin, there will be time to cast on a new project in the last hour of class.

Recommended projects: Penguono, Marled Magic Shawl, Marled Magic Sweater, Dotted Rays, Parachutey, Chevron Shenanigans, Marled Fade Triangle, Vertices Unite, or any other favourite Westknits design that uses several colours striped or marled together.

Materials: Bring an array of colourful scrap yarn (10 colours or more) for swatching (all kinds of yarn weights and fibres) and a few different needle sizes. Mohair and textural fibres are encouraged for exploring marled colour techniques.

Your class ticket includes one alcoholic/non-alcoholic cocktail and a cool little goodie bag just for you! Tickets cost £95.

  • About Stephen West:

Stephen West was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He studied dance at the University of Illinois where he encountered his first yarn store, Klose Knit in Urbana, IL. The creative atmosphere of that local shop spurred Stephen to start designing knitting patterns and he was quickly featured in Knitty’s fall 2009 issue with his Colonnade Shawl. Soon after, he began publishing more patterns and launched a series of pattern books under the brand Westknits.

He continues to produce pattern books and hosts several online knit alongs each year like the Mystery Shawl Knit Along, Yarn a Long and Westknits Shawl Club. His simple clean designs have now been knitted by thousands of knitters all around the World.

Stephen West’s shawl designs and innovative colorwork have helped him become a widely recognized and respected designer around the world. Stephen’s designs have been published in Knitty.com, Malabrigo Book 3 and in Jared Flood’s Wool People. He also self-publishes his own series of popular knitting books including his new collection of 13 popular Westknits designs ‘Westknits Bestknits’.
