We've put together our favourite and most effective combos of yarn for the truly glorious Beaubourg Shawl by Julie Knits in Paris.
Beaubourg is a large rectangular wrap that features two-colour brioche and slipped stitches against a background of garter stitch to represent the colourful pipes that run up the façade of the Beaubourg Museum.
The beautiful shawl is made with 4 skeins of Uneek Worsted hand-dyed self-striping yarn, and 4 skeins of Monokrom Worsted, a hand-dyed, tonal yarn with lots of depth.
Both yarns are made from 100% squishy extra-fine merino wool. Colours are sometimes subject to subtle variation since each harvest is different.
Urth Yarns utilise an innovative hand-dying technique carried out by a skilled workforce of women in Mersin and Istanbul, Turkey.

REMEMBER WHEN YOU FIRST HELD OUR YARN? THAT IS WHEN WE SHOOK HANDS.
Urth Yarns is a family owned yarn company specializing in hand dyed natural yarns. We value the time and emotional investment that go into hand knitting; therefore appreciate your demand for a stimulative feel and yummy colors. Developing and employing innovative dyeing techniques, we aim for a love at first sight or touch, every time.
LET'S SHOW MACHINES WE ARE BETTER THAN THEM!
Mass production made us forget how to use our hands and bring out the individuality about ourselves. Human touch makes all the difference. Knitting and crocheting are good for the body, the mind but also for the earth as a means of sustainable clothing production. Raise your needles and hooks if you are with us!
Our yarns are dyed and prepared by skilled hands of women at our studios in Mersin and Istanbul.
TREES FOR THE FUTURE
Now is the time to give back. We are happy to let you know that knitting is just another way to keep the earth green. Every skein of Urth Yarns plants a tree. Join us in helping Trees for the Future in their mission to provide families with tools and knowledge to plant trees in Africa. For more information, visit our Trees page.
"Planting trees provides families with more than just food. It provides income, empowerment, unity, leadership, education and even saves lives. When we can teach people to value themselves and their environment, they see amazing improvements in their standard of living."
Inspiration is everywhere and we draw ours from the local landscape, people, flora and fauna, as well as contemporary fashion and international trends.
