Bear Kit: Learning to Cry

Notify me when this product is available:

  • Shawl kit for Curious Handmade's gorgeous Learning to Cry: an asymmetrical triangle shawl inspired by the tension and tenderness of The Secret Garden.

Sections of gentle garter stitch in fingering weight are shot through with bands of lace weight mohair and silk yarn. There is a lightness and delicacy to the lace motif, a reminder that there is beauty even in fragility.

This would be a lovely special occasion shawl, but is also sweet and simple enough to wear every day.

    Kit contains:
1 x Bear Singles - A gorgeous single ply of Falkland merino, soft, cosy, with very generous yardage!
    100% Falkland Merino, 100g/495m

    1 x Bear Luxury Halo
This yarn handles like a dream! Wonderful on its own or hold it with any yarn in any project to add instant warmth and luxury!
    72% Kid mohair/ 28% Silk, 50g/420m.

Based in beautiful Northern Ireland, Bear In Sheep's Clothing are a fabulous husband & wife team of talented indie dyers and podcasters. Bernie and Derek are passionate about luxury fibres sourced as locally and ethically as possible.   For now that means British wool, spun in Britain.

Hand-dyed with love and care in Belfast, Bernie & Derek consider the health of the planet in every step they take: using non-toxic, heat and light fast acid dyes, and food grade citric acid as the setting agent. Every last bit of dye is exhausted from their pots. Water is reused and they use as little plastic in their packaging as possible. We love that it arrives here in giant potato sacks!

Bear's colour palette are often inspired by the Irish countryside, cult classics and cartoons, even a piece of jewellery! They absolutely love what they do and it really shows in their gorgeous yarns!
