  • This gorgeous yarn is 100% British: Processed in a mill in England’s historical textile region of West Yorkshire, Lore is made of 100% lambswool from the Romney sheep breed also referred to locally as Kent lamb.

It is an honest woollen spun DK weight yarn that blooms into a beautiful knitted fabric after washing. It has a much softer handle than other "sheepy" yarns, and softens even more after blocking. It's robust but not scratchy!

There's so much character in this yarn. It's as lovely to work with as it is to wear. It's strong, honest, warm and heathery.

Garments made from Lore will wear well and are perfect for everyday and special adventures alike.

The folks at The Fibre Co named this yarn Lore to honour the stories we create with wool.

  • The Fibre Co's story began in 2003 in an old warehouse on the working waterfront of Portland, Maine, USA with a small spinning mill, lots of raw natural fibre and owner/founder Daphne Marinopoulos' vision of creating yarns that she couldn't find on the retail shelves. From these humble beginnings to today's global brand now based in the United Kingdom, The Fibre Co works with a variety of producers and artisans to continue creating yarns that delight and inspire the enthusiast maker. To hear the story in her own words, watch and listen as Daphne talks about fibres, dyeing and yarn development on some of the most popular video and audio podcasts.
