Sat 7th Dec: Turkish Drop Spindle Workshop

5 items left
  • Saturday 7th Dec: 11am - 2pm

In this workshop, Eleanor aka 'Ezzy' will teach you all you need to know to bring to life this really old school craft.  In this workshop, you will be using amazing 3D printed Turkish Spindles! These modern tools are a delight to use and are perfectly weighted to make your spins as easy and consistent as possible.

    You will learn the following:
    - how to attach a leader onto the spindle
    - how to spin one-ply yarn
    - how to ply the yarn (combine strands together)
    - how to set the twist (so the yarn does not unravel)

...and Eleanor will also pass on her passion for the British wool trade and the fantastic qualities all sorts of different animal fibres can bring to this craft.

You will produce a centre pull ball of yarn, using loads of different colours of 100% wool. Your hand spun yarn can then be used to knit, crochet, weave or simply gaze at in delight!

Spinning is a slow mindful skill - a mesmerising way to spend your time and is a great stress buster after those busy days at work and nightmare commutes. This is the most relaxing 'Spin Class' you will ever attend!

Ezzy has a passion for spinning and all things fibre related but has added a contemporary twist to this dying craft!

  • About Ezzystitch:

'Ezzystitch' is the Textile Baby of me, Eleanor Flynn aka, Ezzy. After Graduating with a BA Fine Art at Goldsmith's and being awarded the Elke Lacey Textiles Award for innovative textiles, I took it upon myself to push forward and modernise Contemporary Embroidery and Spinning.

I have always had a love for all things stitchy and spinny and have always felt it an honour to pursue this as a lifestyle and business in memory of my Great Great Grandmother who was a court Dressmaker. After many years of teaching Adult Craft Workshops in London I bring to you, EzzyStitch, Modern Embroidery Designs, Kits and Patterns. Welcome to this mindful craft!

Who doesn't love a cheeky little freebie now and again?
