Knit a Colourwork Cowl: Mon 16th Sep

  • Monday 16th Sep 2019: 10am - 1pm

    Knit a Colourwork Cowl

Stranded colourwork is all the rage! Learn the techniques and tips on this gorgeous cowl and add some colour to your knitting! In this workshop, you will learn the following:

    - How to knit stranded colourwork
    - How to manage your floats and tension
    - How to read charts
    - What colour dominance is and why it matters

  • Class Duration:
3 hours, starting 10am sharp. If you can't come in to choose your yarn on a day before Class Day, please arrive 20 mins before class time to choose your yarn, or bring your own (see details below).

If you're late, you'll have to catch up as best you can without disrupting the other attendees.

    Prior Experience:
For knitters who are confident knitting, purling and knitting in the round on circular needles.

    Class Materials:
You will need 3 x 110m of yarn, ideally Fingering/Sport weight (in 3 colours).

It is recommended that you use a non-superwash yarn, or a "sticky" yarn for the best result. The example in the photo has been knit with Pip Colourwork. This cowl would also be amazing in AndorraJacob 4-Ply, Le Petit Lambswool or E+2 (with leftovers for matching wrist cuffs!).

You will also need circular knitting needles and stitch markers. You can buy supplies at the shop beforehand but you must arrive early to do this.

You will begin your cowl at home and complete the rib section before class so you can move straight on to colourwork! Pattern details will be emailed to you.

    Other:
We are sorry but we cannot offer refunds on classes if you are unable to attend for whatever reason, unless we are able to refill your spot.
  • About Nuria:

My name is Nuria and I'm from Barcelona. Almost 13 years ago I married my lovely Aussie boy and we've managed to have 2 gorgeous kids together, My little Aussie man and 12 years old Aiden and my gorgeous and very determined little english lady Ari who is 8!

Six years ago we embraced a big adventure and moved to London from Barcelona. And here we are, three years later, happy and loving this little adorable place that is Kew (Richmond) where we live.

So, now that I can definitely say that my family is all settled, it's time for me to start my own big adventure and share my little creation:Yaya Knits & Bobs

Yayaknits is about sharing and teaching people to knit and crochet, along with the opportunity to purchase hand-made knit and crochet products that I can design for you or we can design together.

The inspiration for Yayaknits comes mainly from my grandmother Carmen who we would call Yaya. She was an amazing, brave and inspiring woman who taught me as a little girl all the knitting and crochet skills she was passionate about. I would like to share this passion to all that want to learn.
